2014 Fall Festivals in North Georgia
Ahhhh… clear and crisp autumn days and cozy cool fall nights are just around the corner here at Glen-Ella Springs Inn. As the leaves don their royal raiment and the days shorten into wondrous chilly nights, our portion of the Appalachian Mountain Range comes to life with family friendly festivals that celebrate all that defines these North Georgia Mountains and the people that inhabit them. Here are three festivals in North Georgia that all of us at Glen-Ella Springs Inn recommend our guests attend while enjoying our Select Registry Inn!
- A Taste of Clarkesville: On Saturday, September 27th from noon until 3 PM, make your way into downtown Clarkesville for an afternoon of enjoying some of the best cuisine Clarkesville has to offer…including Glen-Ella Springs Inn! This is a fantastic opportunity to taste test all of the fantastic eateries in and around Clarkesville at one time. Be sure to indicate which establishments you like best so that you can visit them again and enjoy a full eating experience with them. With about thirty restaurants and vendors slated to demonstrate their culinary talents, an empty stomach and about $25.00 is all it takes to really enjoy the day. Tickets are 5 for $5 or 25 for $20. Each taste costs one ticket. There are also wine and beer tasting tickets which also cost $1 apiece. Of course, there are other souvenirs some guests may wish to purchase, as well.
- 27th Annual Big Red Apple Festival: On October 11th, Cornelia, GA will celebrate all that fall entails at the Big Red Apple Festival. The festival was so named because of the large monument of a big red apple that stands just outside of Cornelia’s historic train station. One of a few fall festivals in North Georgia, this one is full of live music, hay rides, arts and crafts, a car show, and more. Admission to the festival is free! Of course, food, souvenirs, and other activities are not included in the free admission.
- Georgia Mountain Fall Festival: This festival is a nine day North Georgia home-style hootenanny! Located in picturesque Hiawassee, GA from October 10th through the 18th, this is one of the most massive festivals in North Georgia. Complete with live concerts from the likes of Ricky Scaggs and Chrystal Gayle, an authentic pioneer village and living exhibits pertaining to how our ancestors used to live, an arts and crafts exhibit, and the On The Edge 2-Wheel Action Show, this year’s festival is gearing up to be the best yet! Without a doubt, the highlight of the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival is the annual Georgia Official State Fiddler’s Convention. Here, all bluegrass and Appalachian folk music instrument players come to congregate and compete to be the champion for the year! It’s amazing how the North Georgia Mountains come alive when authentic American folk music is wafting through the air!
