This year, join the town’s brat-loving locals at one of Helen GA’s biggest attractions, Oktoberfest! As the longest running Oktoberfest in the United States, this event has all of your German favorites including live bands, scrumptious food, and of course, beer! Feel free to sit back and enjoy some delicious German potato salad or grab your partner and try to master the waltz on the dance floor. The ‘fest is open every day from September to November, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to put on your Lederhosen and have a fun-filled day on the town.
2. Yonah Mountain Vineyards
When you’re in the area, be sure to take a cave tour at Yonah Mountain Winery, a beloved Helen GA attraction by residents and visitors alike. During this 90-minute walking tour and tasting, guests can try three exclusive, unreleased wines and tour the only known wine caves in Georgia, all with a backdrop of the picturesque mountainside. You’ll finish the tour by sampling six wines and can even take home a complimentary Yonah Mountain Winery wine glass. It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon with loved ones and friends!
3. Habersham Winery
Located in the North Georgia Wine Country, Habersham is open daily for wine tastings and offers guests another wonderful winery experience. Guests can see the fascinating winemaking process through the viewing windows and can sample a large selection of Georgia-grown wines. The tasting room also features a gift shop with gourmet foods, important cheeses, and specialty items from around the world.
4. Hardman Farm
The weather in the North Georgia mountains is perfect in the fall, and there’s no better time to visit a nearby farm with the family. On a Hardman Farm Tour, you’ll learn the fascinating history and secrets of the 145-year-old former governor’s farm. Guests are welcome to take a scheduled tour of the main house and grounds every Thursday through Sunday at 10 AM, 12:30 PM, and 3 PM until December 26th. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, since you will be spending some time outside in the fresh Georgia air!
5. Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway
Surrounded by the beauty of the Chattahoochee National Forest, the 40.6-mile Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway winds through the valleys and mountain gaps of the southern Appalachians in Georgia and is the perfect place for sightseeing or a photo op. You’ll enjoy expansive vistas of the mountains at several scenic overlooks and will experience North Georgia from a bird’s-eye view. The scenic byway is a stunning Helen GA attraction that will make you feel one with nature.
