The couple vowed to be good stewards of the land they so cherished, and Fern Valley on the Soque was born! The Simmons family offers fly fishing on their half-mile trout stream in Clarkesville as well as amenities like walking trails, picnic tables, fire pits, and swings.
What You Need to Know About Soque River Fly Fishing
Fly fishing on the Soque can be very rewarding! At Fern Valley on the Soque, anglers can make a reservation for either a full day or a half day on the Simmons’ run of the river. There is also a guide service available, but it requires a consultation. Fly fishing on the Soque must follow a few simple regulations:
- It must be catch-and-release
- It must occur between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Landing nets must be used
- No dark egg-patterned fish must be captured
All skill levels of anglers are welcome in the stream; there are plenty of brown and rainbow trout to go around! All sections of the Soque River are wadable and absolutely full of fish. Fern Valley on the Soque allows a maximum of four anglers in their stream at a time to ensure that each individual has a quality experience. Exceptions can be made, however, for group reservations.
