4 Ways to Celebrate the 4th of July in North Georgia

1. Fireworks at Dusk in Helen

See a truly magnificent fireworks display like no other in Helen, Georgia!  Every year, the annual Fireworks at Dusk celebration creates a dazzling show for the entire area to admire. Helen is a 40-minute drive from Glen-Ella Springs Inn, so if you prefer to stay closer to your North Georgia home base, head to Lake Rabun instead. More on that below!

2. Lake Rabun Festivities

Our personal favorite (don’t tell the folks over in Helen) 4th of July fireworks show takes place over Lake Rabun—just 10 minutes away from Glen-Ella Springs Inn! For over 30 years, the lake’s annual Wooden Boat Regatta and fireworks show have been beloved traditions for Lake Rabun residents. Head over to this scenic lake to see a multitude of colorful, decorated boats float across Lake Rabun.

Local tip: Rent a pontoon boat to get the best view and experience the fireworks!

Another fantastic 4th of July event is the Rabun Ramble 5K and 10K. It takes place on the Saturday preceding Independence Day and offers fun for the whole family at Lake Rabun. Race attendees get a free event t-shirt and plenty of post-race refreshments. Net proceeds benefit the North Georgia Community Foundation’s Lake Rabun Fund (which provides scholarships to students in the community).

3. 4th of July Celebration in Dillard

Although there are many 4th of July events and festivals in North Georgia, the celebration in Dillard is one of the most entertaining. Enjoy listening to a live band, then viewing a spectacular fireworks display after sundown. The town of Dillard is just 30 minutes away from Glen-Ella Springs Inn.

4. Demorest 4th of July Fireworks Display

Just 22 minutes from Glen-Ella Springs Inn is the town of Demorest, Georgia. For the holiday, visitors can look forward to a 5K, a parade, food vendors, crafts, and plenty of other family-friendly activities. At sundown, the fireworks go off over downtown Demorest (in the Springs Park area).

5. Dahlonega 4th of July Celebration

If your ideal 4th of July features games, activities, and entertainment, the Dahlonega 4th of July Celebration is another celebration to consider. See flashy automobiles at the classic car show, dance in the streets to the music of live bands, run in a 5K, and much more! There will be things to do for all ages, so feel free to bring the whole family!
