Family-owned and operated, this winery in Georgia sits at the base of the iconic Yonah Mountain, a striking granite monolith that lends both its name and dramatic presence to the estate. The winery’s roots trace back to 2006 when its winery owners set out to create a world-class vineyard on the eastern edge of the Appalachian foothills. Today, Yonah Mountain Winery is known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and attention to detail—qualities that have placed it among the top North Georgia wineries.
The estate grows a wide range of varietals, including a range of reds and aromatic whites. Guests can expect to find everything from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, all crafted with an Old World sensibility and a New World sense of place. The highlight of any trip to Yonah Mountain Vineyards is the view. The relaxed, upscale tasting room offers stunning views of Yonah Mountain. But if you want to get beyond a traditional wine-tasting experience, we can’t recommend their guided cave tours enough. Their underground wine cave was carved into the mountain itself, setting up an environment where barrels age in perfect conditions. During the tour, you’ll have the chance to sample six different wines, including some that are only available on this tour. You’ll also get a large branded Riedel wine glass to take home. Cave tours are only offered on Saturdays, and advance tickets are required.
For something more elevated, consider booking one of Yonah Mountain Vineyards’ Reserve Wine Luncheons. These unique wine tasting experiences allow guests to explore limited-production wines with a knowledgeable guide, paired with delicious gourmet bites. The luncheons last 90 minutes and take place in their barrel-aging cave.
