For a wine-filled escape that combines scenic beauty and exceptional flavors – not to mention a fair amount of romance – set your sights on North Georgia wineries. Home to around 70 wineries statewide, Georgia’s wine scene thrives in the northern region, where rolling vineyards and tasting rooms are just waiting to be explored. Within about 45 minutes of our North Georgia Bed and Breakfast, you’ll discover more than 30 of the best North Georiga wineries – and that number continues to grow.

Located just 90 minutes from Atlanta and about three hours from Charlotte, NC, North Georgia wine country offers a quick, refreshing getaway for couples. Though this region might seem like a newcomer to wine enthusiasts, winemaking here boasts deep roots. Before Prohibition, Georgia ranked as the sixth-largest wine grape producer in the nation. While the industry faded for decades, it made a strong comeback in the early 1980s and hasn’t stopped growing since. Today, North Georgia wineries are earning a well-deserved place on the map, and each season brings new reasons to celebrate the area’s exceptional wines.

It’s not all about wine in the North Georgia mountains, though. These scenic mountains are an outdoor lover’s paradise, with incredible opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing, boating, and more. With the Blue Ridge Mountains as a breathtaking backdrop, it’s the perfect setting for sipping award-winning wines and enjoying a romantic weekend filled with adventure and laughter. To cap the weekend off, there’s no more romantic place to stay than Glen-Ella Springs, rated as one of the most romantic getaways in North Georgia

Let us be your home base for exploring this incredible region. Reserve your stay at our romantic North Georgia Bed and Breakfast and immerse yourself in the heart of Georgia wine country.

Whether you’re here to hike, unwind, or enjoy some one-on-one time with your sweetheart, spending an afternoon sampling local wines is always a highlight.

North Georgia wineries are best known for growing muscadine grapes, which produce the sweet, fruit-forward wines the region is famous for. And, of course, you can’t miss the delightful peach-infused wines that reflect Georgia’s iconic fruit. If you prefer something a bit more traditional, you’ll also find wineries producing European-style vintages, ensuring there’s a perfect pour for every palate.

Stretching across the northern part of the state, North Georgia wine country offers a wealth of tasting opportunities. Discover why North Georgia wine country is quickly becoming a favorite destination for wine lovers, and visit one (or more) of these fantastic North Georgia wineries this year.

  1. One of our favorite North Georgia wineries is Yonah Mountain Vineyards, which isn’t too far from our Bed and Breakfast. They produce a variety of wines, including Chardonnay, Merlot, and Malbec. We highly recommend their wine cave tour!
  2. Another great spot we love to send our guests to is Tiger Mountain Vineyards. This award-winning winery in North Georgia is well known for its Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
  3. If you plan to visit the Bavarian town of Helen, don’t miss a tasting at Habersham Winery. It’s one of the oldest North Georgia wineries and offers a pleasing variety for any palette.
  4. For delicious wines and exquisite sunset views, enjoy a late afternoon tasting at 12 Spies Vineyards, one of our favorite North Georgia wineries.
  5. You can also enjoy exquisite mountain views from Terra Incognita Vineyard, surrounded by thousands of acres of untouched wilderness of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
  6. Another close-by favorite among North Georgia wineries is Stonewall Creek Vineyards. Their wines use estate-grown grapes, but their secondary label, standing Deer Cellar, produces varietals using non-estate-grown grapes.
  7. If you want to explore the popular Dahlonega area, we recommend you visit Kaya Vineyard and Winery. It was one of the first wineries in North Georgia in the Dahlonega area and is the largest. It’s a great stop if you’re heading north from Atlanta to our North Georgia Bed and Breakfast.
  8. Finally, if you’re looking for Tuscan-style wines, you can’t go wrong with Serenity Cellars. It’s a boutique winery in North Georgia known for its small-batch reds.
