North Georgia Mountain Bike Trails

Whether you’re a mountain biking beginner or an accomplished expert, there are tons of trails in North Georgia of varying difficulty and length where you’ll feel the wind in your hair.

  • White Twister: This four-mile trail is short but proves challenging and fun! The trail twists and turns down the forested mountain, with quick turns and steep climbs that will test your skills.
  • Stoneplace Trail: One of three biking trails in Tallulah Gorge State Park, Stoneplace Trail is about ten miles round trip. The trail is rated moderate to difficult and is made up of rocky and compacted red dirt.
  • Shortline Trail: The Shortline Trail is an easy and paved multi-use trail that also runs through the State Park. Measuring three miles, this trail can be used for hiking, biking, skating, or sightseeing.
  • Stanley Gap: This exhilarating trail climbs from the Deep Gap parking lot all the way up to the high point, and then descends back down to Stanley Gap. The speeds you can achieve down this steep trail can be both amazing and scary, so make sure you have the skills to deal with tight trees, big rocks, and sudden turns!

North Georgia Hiking Trails

Mountain summits, tumbling waterfalls, and mossy creeks attract both casual hikers and experienced backpackers to these North Georgia trails. Visitors can take on a portion of the famous Appalachian Trail as well as a number of other scenic trails.

  • Batram Trail: This multi-state trail spans from Georgia to North Carolina and has a total length of over 115 miles. It’s best to plan a hike that’s just a portion of the trail so that you won’t end up exhausted, and you’ll be able to enjoy 360-degree views of the mountains.
  • Appalachian Trail (Unicoi Gap to Indian Grave Gape): This challenging area of the Appalachian Trail climbs an aggressive 1,000 feet up the western slope of Rocky Mountain and offers expansive mountain and forest views, and is one of the most beautiful places to hike in North Georgia.
  • Yonah Mountain Trail: Take on Yonah Mountain’s elevation at a quick pace for a great workout! The trail hikes the boulder and wildflower-filled lower elevations of Mount Yonah before cresting at the summit and showcasing breathtaking views.
  • Edmonds Trail: Enjoy the serenity of the dark hills and mountain streams in Black Rock State Mountain Park, the highest state park in Georgia. This trail will challenge you with steeply rising and falling elevations.
