- For many wine drinkers, North Georgia wine country is synonymous with Dahlonega, and that’s because it was the first area in Georgia to be given specific viticultural area boundaries. There are some great wineries there, but our most recommended is Kaya Vineyard and Winery. It was one of the first wineries in North Georgia in the Dahlonega area and is the largest. It’s a great stop if you’re heading north from Atlanta on your way to our North Georgia Bed and Breakfast.
- One of our favorite destinations in North Georgia wine country is Yonah Mountain Vineyards. The wines here are delicious and varied, including Chardonnay, Merlot, Malbec, and more. We highly recommend their wine cave tour, and you can’t leave without admiring the stunning mountain views from here.
- Another of our favorite stops in North Georgia wine country is 12 Spies Vineyards. You don’t have to travel far to get there, the sunset views are exquisite, and the range of wines to taste will keep everyone satisfied.
- You can also enjoy exquisite mountain views from Terra Incognita Vineyard. This stunning vineyard overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains and is surrounded by thousands of protected acres of forest.
- Head down the road about 20 minutes, and you’ll find another must-see winery in North Georgia, Tiger Mountain Vineyards. This gem has won several awards, particularly for its Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
- Another close-by favorite is Stonewall Creek Vineyards, which produces a delicious lineup of wines from estate-grown grapes. They also have a second wine label, Standing Deer Cellar, produced using non-estate-grown grapes.
- If you’re looking for Tuscan-style wines, you can’t go wrong with Serenity Cellars. It’s a boutique winery in North Georgia wine country known for its small-batch reds.
- If you plan to visit the Bavarian town of Helen, you might as well do some wine tasting there, too. A great spot near Helen is Habersham Winery, one of the oldest wineries in North Georiga.
- If you plan to be in the Cleveland area for the day, don’t miss a tasting at one of the newer wineries in the area, CeNita Winery.
